Country: China Xiangyang is the second-largest prefecture-level city by population in northwestern Hubei province, China, and a place where two historic cities have grown into one. The Han River cuts through its centre, with old Xiangyang and its remarkably well-preserved ancient wall to the south, and Fancheng to the north. Once called Xiangfan, the city is now attracting investment as China develops its inland provinces.
