San Sebastián is best known as Donostia, its Basque name, and for its coastal setting on the Bay of Biscay. The city is the capital of Gipuzkoa province in Spain’s Basque Autonomous Community, just 20 kilometres from the French border. Locals call themselves donostiarras, and San Sebastián also forms part of the Basque Eurocity Bayonne-San Sebastián.
