Port Macquarie is best known as a coastal city on New South Wales’ Mid North Coast, where the Hastings River meets the Tasman Sea. Commonly called Port Mac or simply Port by locals, it marks the eastern end of the Oxley Highway, about 390 kilometres north of Sydney and 570 kilometres south of Brisbane. Its population was estimated at 51,965 in 2023.
