Country: Australia Hervey Bay is a tourism-focused city in Queensland’s Fraser Coast Region, where calm north-facing beaches, broad undeveloped foreshores, fishing and boating draw visitors. About 290 kilometres north of Brisbane, it faces the Coral Sea across its namesake bay, with ferry connections to nearby K’gari. Whale watching in Platypus Bay is a major attraction, and in 2019 the World Cetacean Alliance recognised Hervey Bay as the world’s first Whale Heritage Site for its sustainable whale and dolphin watching practices.
