Halifax once played a key role in Nova Scotia’s provincial politics, sending representatives to the province’s House of Assembly. From 1867 to 1933, the electoral district first elected three members, then five, before Halifax County was divided into five districts: Halifax South, Halifax Centre, Halifax North, Halifax East and Halifax West.
