Country: United States of America Fort Wayne began as three successive military log stockades, used between 1794 and 1819. They stood where the St. Mary’s and St. Joseph Rivers meet in what is now northeastern Indiana, replacing the original Fort Miami near Kekionga, the Miami’s principal village. The area’s history reaches back to the early 1700s.
