Together with Fort Worth, it anchors the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, Texas’s most populous metropolitan area and the fourth largest in the country. In northern Texas, Dallas also forms the heart of the Southern U.S.’s largest metropolitan area and the nation’s largest inland metro area without a navigable connection to the sea.
