Country: Italy Unlike the other Cinque Terre localities, Corniglia has no direct waterfront. About 150 people live in this hamlet of Vernazza, perched on a roughly 100-metre-high promontory with vineyards and terraces on three sides and a steep drop toward the sea. Reaching the village means climbing the Lardarina, a brick staircase with 33 flights and 383 steps, or taking the road from the station, sometimes served by a small bus.
